Detrimental Dog Clothes - Why And When Not To Put On Clothing
There can be disadvantages to dog clothing. One disadvantage for the owner is, just like a baby, you’ll have to make time to plan the outfits around the weather. Another disadvantage is that you’ll have to make extra space in your bag to carry the dog clothes and accessories.
Forget the owner, what about the dog? Safety and comfort are the most important things to consider when selecting dog clothes. Whether you purchase designer dog clothes, large breed dog clothes or small breed dog clothes, keep this information in mind:
• Watch for irritations and watch out for itching. You do have to make sure that the fabric used for these clothes do not irritate your dog’s skin. You should also make sure that there is not any harsh effect on your dog’s fur.
• If you see your dog constantly tugging and pulling at their clothes then they may have some irritation due to the material. It is either this or they are uncomfortable with clothes. Don’t make your pet suffer for your pleasure. They should enjoy the dog clothes too.
• It can be hard to train your dog to wear clothes. Your dog may feel uncomfortable with clothes since they are, after all, not used to them.
• Loosely woven items can easily catch a toe or claw, creating a problem. Also consider the fabric-is it safe for the pet? Will they get tangled? Will they ingest all or part of the item? Is the piece constructed out of non-toxic material?
• Make sure that the clothes fit properly, snug enough so a foot or mouth won't get caught where it doesn't belong, and loose enough so it isn't constricting.
• If your dog is bored or doesn't like the clothing, chewing and destruction of the clothes may occur.
