Small Dog Collars | Unique Dog Collars | Fashion Dog Collars and Leads
The main purpose of dog collars and leads are to keep your dog safe and secure and to aid in training your dog. Your dog should always be wearing a dog collar with it’s license tags to insure a safe return if it gets lost
Although there are many styles of dog collars and dog leads to choose from, a dog owner’s primary responsibility should be their dog’s safety. A collar and lead helps secure them from dangerous situations, but they can be fashionable as well and are available in a wide range of colors, prints, and styles. With so many choices, it is easy to find a dog collar that fits snugly but not too tightly, and is the appropriate width for the dog’s size and breed. By selecting the right dog collar and lead, pet owners can insure their dogs are stylish and protected no matter what the situation.
When buying a unique dog collar, it is important to consider the size and breed of your dog. Choose a collar that suits your dog’s style and breed. A thin, small, pink collar with diamond studs would serve no purpose on a German Shepard, and it would look ridiculous.
For small dogs, a basic dog collar and lead will do. In this day and age, small dog collars come in different designs (buckle, slip, metal, etc.) and textures (nylon, cotton or leather) and they all will allow you to keep your dog on the leash. Just make sure that the dog collar is strong enough to keep your dog without injuring him.
Designer dog collars and leads are all the rage, especially for small dogs. Designer collars with high-end names (Gucci, Coach, Louis Viuitton, Prada, etc.), fancy colored collars, rhinestone collars, spiked collars, and personalized collars are very popular.
For large dogs and active dogs, you’ll need a collar and lead that will allow you to control your dog. Large and active dogs are very strong and the collar and lead you choose should be able to withstand any tugging and pulling. Leather and sturdy nylon collars and leads work best for large dogs. Don’t despair; there are designer collars out there for large dogs, too.
If you are trying to train your dog, there are several choices of fashion dog collars and leads, again depending on the size, breed and personality of your dog. Smaller dogs typically can be trained with a regular collar and lead. Larger, more hyper dogs may need an electronic collar, also called remote or shock collar. It delivers an electrical stimulus to the dog in training as a correction method. Prong or pinch collars are also good for training purposes. Unlike slip collars or choke chains, they do not cause neck, back or tracheal injuries.
