Dog Electric Shock Collar - A Dog Training Tool
Dog shock collars, now more often known as remote dog training collars or electronic dog training collars due to the negative connotation of the word “shock”, are an effective way to train your dog. Training collars can be used to teach basic obedience training, advanced training, and sport dog training.
The remote dog-training collar is one of the simplest of training aids. The remote dog-training collar is placed on a dog’s neck like a regular and allows the trainer to deliver small static shocks of varying strength by remote control.
The correction (the static shock) the dog gets from the remote dog-training collar is no different than walking on the carpet and touching your friend. The benefit of working with a remote dog-training collar is the trainer can immediately correct a dog’s mistakes at a distance far greater than leash training allows.
Remote dog-training collars are available in Basic, Advanced, Sport and Multiple versions. The Basic remote dog-training collar teaches your dog basic commands such as no, OK, sit, heel, stay, down and come.
The Advanced dog-training collar is similar to the Basic dog-training collar but contains more options and flexibility. These types of collars are also used for Beginner Field Training and Agility Training.
The Sport dog-training collar is used for field training, herding, service dog and is designed especially for stubborn/large dogs. The Multiple dog-training collar is a training system designed for owners of many dogs who want to control 2 or more training collars on one remote.
Many people disagree as to whether shock collars are a humane training aid. Many believe it is possible to properly handle and train your dog using non-force, non-confrontational, scientific and psychological methods rather than shocking them with an electric shock collar.
The shock collar is used mainly in the United States; therefore, people have the opinion that Americans are too lazy and don’t have the patience to train their dogs properly. Those that wholeheartedly disagree with its use also make a lot of presumptions because they have no personal experience with these remote training collars.
There are trainers out there that have used it but choose not to use it. Only skilled trainers should use the collars because it is a tool that can be easily abused.
