Dog Harnesses For Training and Traveling In A Car

There are 2 types of dog harnesses, namely dog car harness and dog training harness. The dog car harness, which works with your existing vehicle seatbelt. The car harness keeps your dog from being thrown or injured when you stop quickly or in traffic accidents.

It also keeps your dog from jumping out an open car window and reduces driver distraction. Car dog harnesses are not just for small dogs, they are available in sizes small to jumbo. Car harnesses can also be used to control your dog on a lead when not using it in the car.

The other type of dog harness is used specifically for training your dog. Dog training harnesses provide the control you need to stop your dog from pulling and help with the overall training of your dog.

The harnesses work by guiding the dog by the chest, slows a dog when he pulls forward and redirects his attention. Steering with the back induces the natural opposition reflex enticing a dog to walk ahead.

Dog harnesses can be found in many different styles, sizes and fabrics. Small dogs have the largest designer selection to choose from, ranging from cute colors to leather studded to satin and rhinestones. Dog product designers have not forgotten about the large dog breeds. Large dogs also have a designer selection of genuine leather; suede and rhinestones just to name a few.

Harnesses for active dogs such as sled dogs are heavily padded with foam and fleece for comfort and are made of durable non-stretch nylon. There are multiple types of harnesses to choose from in this category, ranging from recreational pulling to competition and long distance racing. Often times the harnesses are equipped with reflective strips for safety in harsh weather and at night.

Harnesses for K9 dogs are known as Agitation / Protection / Attack Leather Dog Harnesses. These harnesses are typically padded and make of heavy-duty leather. The Protection harness is designed to fit most working dogs and is designed so that the resistance is on the shoulders, not on the throat, enabling the dog to freely bark and track.

There are a lot of different varieties of dog harnesses, so be sure to choose the one that is right for the size and breed of your dog, as well as what you intend to use it for. Small dog breeds require a different type of harness than an older, large breed of dog. Conversely, active dogs and working dogs need an entirely different kind of harness. Be sure to choose the suitable one for your dog.
