Dog Retractable Leash - Giving Your Dog More Freedom
Retractable leashes are a type of dog leash used to walk your dog. Retractable leashes contain a heavy-duty nylon housing that extends out several feet to let your dog roam and investigate. It has a push button control that allows the owner to lock the desired length in place and rewind the slack when necessary.
Agitated and hard to control dogs might not be comfortable using a retractable dog leash. Because once your dog powerfully try to pull away from the handler and repeat it for many times, it may possibly hurt your dog’s neck and make them weak during a long walk along the road.
Unlike chain that is too heavy to carry, dogs will never be conscious in wearing a leash because it is very lightweight that even dogs will never recognize that he is wearing a leash. Aside from this, it provides a longer range of space where dogs can freely move.
Retractable dog leashes come in several different sizes. The mini retractable leash has a 10-foot cord and is recommended for dogs up to 18 pounds. The medium size retractable leash has a 16-foot cord and is recommended for small to medium dogs. The large retractable dog leash, recommended for large dogs has a 26-foot leash. Retailers sell the retractable leashes in a variety of different colors.
There are some disadvantages to the retractable dog leash. If by chance your dog suddenly darts off and you lose control of the handle, you now have a running dog pulling a long cord. The handle is making noise and now your dogs thinks something is chasing him. Because he thinks something is chasing him, he won’t stop! The dog could get hurt, get tangled up or caught on an object. The owner, attempting to “reel in” the out of control dog by the nylon ford, could get physically hurt.
A retractable leash can be enjoyable if your dog is well behaved, is under your control and is in a safe area with you that allows lots of room to move about. Used inappropriately, it can be a dangerous tool and put you, your dog and others at considerable risk.
