Dog Toss and Retrieving Toys
One of the earliest uses of retrieving dogs was to help fishermen retrieve fish and objects from the water. All dogs yearn for a romp in the field or a splash in the water, and most all are delighted to work and play.
Whether you are training a hunting dog, or just playing with your companion dog on a daily basis, it is a good idea to teach your dog to retrieve. The best toys to do this are the Frisbee and a ball. The game of fetch, which is tossing the ball and having your dog retrieve it and bring it back to you, is the best training tool to teach a dog how to retrieve.
There are a lot of other fun dog toss and retrieving toys that can be purchased. Dogs like toss and retrieving toys because they get to play with you! Daily retrieving sessions are a good workout for your dog’s mind and body, and it’s good exercise for you too.
Most retrieving toys were designed for play on land or and water. Frisbees and rubber balls that float and bounce are great toys for water loving dogs. The Air Kong Donut, Air King Stick and Air Kong Bone is a selection of toys made out of tennis ball material that float and bounce.
Some examples of fun (and humorous) dog toss and retrieve toys are: Hurl a Squirrel, Heave a Beaver, and Chuck a Duck. These toys are made of canvas and nylon rope, and have been tested on a number of dogs of all shapes, sizes and temperaments. They will provide loads of fun for you and your dog.

When thrown, the Kong bounces erratically all over the yard. This surprises the dog, gets him excited about the game and stimulates his mind.
